![]() ![]() ![]() Any written notice of protest will be acceptable as long as it identifies the owner, the property that is the subject of the protest and indicates apparent dissatisfaction with an action or decision taken by the Appraisal District. ![]() The Appraisal District has forms for protesting, but an official form is not necessary. You may request your individual PIN # through the uFile system for easy access. The uFile Online Protest can be accessed through your account via by selecting uFile Online Protest. The ARB will not accept protest filings by facsimile or e-mail submissions. Protests to the ARB can be filed by electronic communication via the DCAD website using the Online Protest Program, uFile, or in written form. Protests can be made if the proposed value is too high, if the property's value is unequally compared with other property in the Appraisal District, the Chief Appraiser denied your exemption, the appraisal records show an incorrect owner, the property is being taxed by the wrong taxing units, or the Appraisal District or Appraisal Review Board (ARB) too other actions that affect your property. Property owners have until May 22, 2023, to file a protest for assessed property value. Protesting Your Property Value Assessment These values are then given to the respective taxing units for tax assessing. It is the function of the Dallas Central Appraisal District to appraise all Dallas County property at market value. The Town of Highland Park assesses the Town’s ad valorem (property) tax under the rules set by the Texas State Property Board. There is an optional 20% homestead exemption and a $50,000 over-65 exemption. The property tax rate in Highland Park is $0.23 on each $100 of assessed valuation of all taxable property, real, personal, or mixed, located in the Town of Highland Park on the first day of January, and not exempted from taxation by the constitution and laws of the State of Texas. ![]()
